BW's got a new CT

The old boys been saying that he's a bit unfit at the moment and his board is a little hard to paddle. So I surprised him with a new CT 2 1/2 inches longer @ 6'0 1/2 X 20 X 2 3/8 which he really likes.

Finless Part 3

Alright this will be the last time I  talk about the finless board for a while. After surfing  on the beachie out the front on Friday the new modifications seemed to do the trick. The board could hold a line and even drive a bottom turn around sections, which was so much fun. It was really fast and very challenging to ride from a standard board which is exactly what I was after. We then decided to add a super hard roving edge on the rails to give the board some extra bite. On Saturday my mate Po and I took the boards ( a couple of CT's, A Thomas Bexon Alaia and the Finless) to Noosa for a test run with the new mods. Got some great waves through the Boiling Pot section of the wave on the finless and a couple of fun smaller waves down towards Johnson's. After a bit of reflection of the session I decided to add on one last small roving channel on the toe side for a little extra bite for bottom turns. We bolted up through horrible weather on Sunday to test the board again, getting some great waves. Yew it works!!

Finless Part 2

After the finless maiden voyage, it was decided that the parallel rails flat rocker and hard edges wern't enough to drive the board forward. Derek (Hynd) mentioned that finless surfboards were mostly working projects, I think he must have meant that it probably won't work exactly how you want it to first time. Well Derek was dead right. The board paddled well, caught waves easily, but I had great difficulty getting the board to drive down the line. Still got some fun waves spinning 360's like a mad man, driving along the line on one wave albeit almost by accident. So with the help of my old man (BW) and Blake we used a piece of wood to mold rovings into a hard edged channel finishing on the point of the swallow tail. I rode the board in some junky waves at the bags and it felt heaps better, but I think it needs one more channel out closer to the rail which is my project for today. More updates with photo's and footage to come.
