First of The Spring/Summer Storms
We had our first spring/summer storms the last two afternoons. Such a nice relief after a hot day.
Marty rode his bike into the shop to escape the weather and for a chat.

Finless Experiment
I've been thinking about finless surfboards since seeing Derek Hynd at Noosa in February this year. Since then I have acquired an awesome Alaia from Thomas Bexon which is epic, but is hard to paddle. Recently I saw some footage of Derek riding his finless in solid surf in South Africa, which was enough inspiration to get me into action. Below is my first attempt at the finless concept. The board is 5'8 x 19 x 2 with extremely hard rails, and a 8mm concave nose to tail, with a slightly concaved chine in from the rails. The chine idea comes from Ross Head a well respected longboard shaper on the coast, we discussed how the chine releases pressure from the rail when used in the nose area on longboards for nose riding, so hopefully this will work for the finless design as well.

New Model for Summer
We've been working with Blake Wilson on a new model for summer/competition (Japan). We started out with our CT model and went a couple of inches longer, pulled in the nose and tail, added a little extra nose and tail lift and voila....the Wasabi. This one here is numero uno, glassed in John Gillis's CET Epoxy resin. John's Resin is the best we have seen, super clear, strong and very light...pretty much everything you want!!! Ready for testing in the morning. Updates next post!
